Melon
de Bourgogne
This is the primary grape variety planted
in the lower Loire valley region of France.
Melon de Bourgogne was planted to nearly all the vineyards when they were
replanted after the winter of 1709. The winter that year was so
cold that it destroyed the existing vineyards. It is the only grape
variety used to produce Muscadet.
