Location: Dominus is located in the mid-Napa Valley of California. It is located on the historic Napanook vineyard site on the west side of the valley in Yountville.

Vineyards: 124 acres producing about 8,000 cases. These vineyards are planted predominately with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. There are also small amounts of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc planted on the estate. There is a second wine produced since 1996 called Napanook.

Classification: There is no official ranking system for wines in the Napa Valley. Dominus does receive regular critical aclaim from most respected wine writers and is a favorite among knowledgeable consumers and collectors.

Grape Variety: Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.

History: The winery produced its first wine with the 1983 vintage. The winery is owned by Christian Moueix whose family owns Chateau Petrus and several prized properties on the right bank in the Bordeaux region of France.

Evaluation: Superb example of traditional winemaking with Napa Valley fruit. The wines are intense and will improve for years to come.

Style :

Food: The full flavored and robust wines from Dominus are at their best when paired with beef or lamb.
